Lab 9 - Join a Domain and Add Accounts

Introduction

The last time you were in the lab, you setup a Windows 2003 Server Virtual Machine and added the Active Directory role to that machine. In this lab, you will add User Accounts and a Group to your Active Directory. Then, you will use the XP Virtual Machine that you created near the beginning of this course to join your Active Directory Domain.

Start your Windows 2003 Server

Start the VMWare Console. Open (but do not start) your Windows 2003 Server Virtual Machine.

Make sure that your ethernet NIC is set to "host only". You want your virtual machines to be totally disconnected from the rest of the class room.

Start your Windows 2003 Server.

Add Accounts and Group

Find the tool that allows you to maintain your Acrtive Directory.

Add a User Account for yourself.

Add a User Account for another student in the room (or just make up a name).

Add a group called Student744

Make the two accounts you just added members of that group.

Leave this virtual machine up and running. You need Active Directory up and running for the next part of this exercise.
