Dominican University
Welcome to BAD220 Online - Spring 2013
Welcome to the online version of BAD220 - Advanced Business Applications. This course officially starts on January 10, 2012. I have enrolled you in this course in Blackboard and expect you to visit this course in Blackboard every 2-3 days starting on or before January 10 and continuing until you complete the Final Exam before May 3, 2012. You will find all lectures (videos), assignments, discussions and exams for this course in Blackboard (http://blackboard.dom.edu).
There are advantages to taking this course online. You can do the work in this course at anytime of the day and on your schedule. You can attend "lectures" on your schedule.
How to get started: Watch the video
An easy way to get started is to watch the 10 minute video that introduces you to this course. Please watch this video before January 10 at 11:59 PM. There have been a minor changes since the video was recorded. See this document for details.
You can find all the other information you need in Blackboard. When you log into this course in Blackboard you will notice that you have several deliverables due before January 16. In order to create these deliverables you will need immediate access to Microsoft Excel 2010. Details can be found in Unit 1 in Blackboard. If you have any difficulty reaching the course in blackboard, please email me at jmiller@dom.edu.
You can find the Syllabus in Blackboard and can also link to it directly from here.
How to win: Get ahead of schedule
It is possible to complete all your assignments early - up to two weeks early! You will "win" in this course if you complete your assignments and discussions on schedule. The way to do that is to log in to Blackboard at the beginning of each Unit (See Class Schedule) and complete your work in the first four days of each Unit. This will avoid feeling pressure near the end of the Unit. You can relieve pressure in other classes by working ahead in this class. You can then "fall back" to the normal schedule in this class in order to make time available for other classes.
"See" you in class
I look forward to working with you. You will find that I respond quickly to email. Be "agressive" at sending email. I enjoy hearing from you. Don't hesitate to ask questions, ask for clarifications, ask for help on the assignments, or question a grade. If you see any "bugs" or mistakes, please email me immediately so I can correct them.
